Virginia Giesen is a young German surfer that I met a few weeks ago in south coast France, she rides for Roxy, let's discover this up and coming new beautifull talent. Can you introduce yourself ? I was born the 11th of February 1993 on Gran Canaria, I'm 19 years old, and i live on the South side of Gran Canaria 5 minutes away by car from my homespot "el faro de Maspalomas". When did you start surfing and why ? I started bodyboarding at 11 years old and 2 years later with surfing, I always loved to spend time in thewater and be closer to the nature.  Where are you actually living ? I live on the Canary Islands Describe your home surf spot ? It’s a long righ thander pointbreak, rocks underground and playful simillar toTrestles. How did you first get involved with Roxy and what is your relationship with this major surf brandand its surfer team ? October 2009 afterbecoming German National Junior Girlschampion.Open and friendly as well as withthemembers of theteam, we are like a “Big RoxySurfingFamily” Best Achievements ? - Became with 17 years old Open Women German champion in 2010. - 2x junior girls Germanchamp in 2009 and 2011. - 2x Canary Islands Girls U-21 in 2008 und 2010 Champion. - 27th Asp Europe Women Pro-Juniors What's your goal for this year ? Become Open Women German Champ. Which surfers inspire you the most ? Dane Hall and Jonathan González. Is it hard to be spanish surfer on Tour ? I compete as German and live on the Canaries so i almost hang out with spanish people, they are easygoing, friendly and funny |
It seems there's a lot of fun on the girls tour, who are you travelling with ? I usually travel with my parents but is amazing to be in gable to meet new people and hang out with the once you already know as we have thesame passion, and is always good to listen to different experiences. What do you have to improve to be on top ? Make my manouvers more fluent and powerful. You're one of the most beautifull girl on Tour, do you have special program to keep in shape ? Thanks for the compliment, consistency is the key to success, eat the amount of healthy food which you’ll burn in the day and then do separate exercises on different parts of your body is the perfect way to keep in shape. You make some fashion shots with my mate Sandrine Legal, is fashion important to you ? What do you most like to wear ? I like the way Sandrine works makes me feel comfortable and we do share the same point of view of fashion, “just show the model naturally” time by time, is getting more important for me as i’m realizing i’ve a potential and for the brands the image is .  What are you doing when you're not surfing ? Chill, sun bath, going for a walk to different places I know you're passionated by photography, tell me about this. Some things and some places transmit me something special which i feel the need of capture that moment. Lastword ? Enjoy the moment and protect the environment.
