
HUNTINGTON BEACH, California (Friday, May 8, 2009) – Association of Surfing Professionals (ASP) World Tour rookie Kekoa Bacalso, 23, is currently leading the charge of up-and-coming talent to set foot on the Dream Tour stage this year and is sitting in the No. 9 slot in the world after the first two events. His Quarterfinals finish at Bells launched him within the top ten and now the Husky Hawaiian is preparing for his first visit to Teahupoo. Surfline.com sat down with Bacalso to chat about his early season success. This…is their story.
It’s changed dramatically. After hacking out on the QS for four or five years, I finally had my opportunity. Schedule wise, it’s a little more hectic. I’m going to be away from home at different times. Plus, I’m under the spotlight now and I’m trying to get used to it. I’m loving it though.
I’ve only done two events. The last event was cranking every single day. Yeah, Bells was good living. I had a pretty crypt room. I was eating good. I was staying right on the golf course. I felt like a rock star. I was loving it.
