
Rio De Janeiro -- The new Brazilian sensation, 15 year old Gabriel Medina, dominated the action today with massive scores at the Rio Surf Pro International presented by Oakley.
Soon in the first heat of the day at Arpoador Beach, Medina scored a 9,00 and an 8,33 points (out a possible of 10), than in the afternoon Medina scored an excellent 9,77 with a serial of strong frontside turns.
Medina is one of the ten Brazilians who will compete tomorrow (Last Day) against eight foreign surfers from five different countries. The final day of Rio Surf Pro International pres. by Oakley will start at 7am (Brazilian local time) at Arpoador Beach, Rio de Janeiro.
"I'm stoked, I founded good waves and managed to get those high scores, but the waves are not easy, It's still a little messy, with some sets closing. I had two difficult heats, with many good guys and I’m glad to move on. I want to improve even more and I will do my best in this event" promised the young surfer who became the youngest winner of a WQS event in history, after won a 6 star event at Florianopolis.
