For the first time in history, the world’s best female surfers will join the ASP Top 45 with the Rip Curl Women’s Pro Search.
We decided to call the leading rookie on Women's Dream Tour, Coco Ho (haw), to get her feelings about this contest at Peniche Portugal.
Freaksurf Mag : What do you think about your first part of season?
Coco Ho : It's only been the first part of our Women's Tour. We still have over half of the tour left. It's been super exciting. Different situations at every event and I've learned a lot already...
FSM : Two Hawaiians on top five ?
CH : Ya, so far so good! And next year with Carissa will be interesting too. Hawaii has so many good girls to come, it's only going to get better and better.
FSM : We can say ther's a big Battle between Steph Gilmore and Silvana Lima since the begining, do you still have a chance to catch them ?
CH : No.
FSM : Are you thinking about the World Title?
CH : The rookie of the year title, ya.
FSM : How do you feel before this event in Portugal ?
CH : I've had some good waves at home lately, Im pretty relaxed and I got my Dad here so I just hope to get the right waves to perform to the best of my ability. I'd love to get another good result here, I had fun in Guincho for the WQS so hopefully I can carry on.
FSM : For the first time, male and female gonna compete on the same wave in a Rip Curl Search contest, is that important for female surfing ?
CH : It's always fun sharing events with the guys. They bring it to another level so it's good for us to watch. The men also attract large crowds so now we'll get the opportunity to perform in front of them!
FSM : Do you know this wave called Subertubos, have you ever practiced it ?
CH : Never surfed it! Just seen it on youtube... haha
FSM : Every body seems excited with this contest ?
CH : Yes. Portugal is such a beautiful country with so much to offer. I'm really excited to be a part of it !
FSM : Coco, you must win, because Freaksurf Mag picks you in its fantazy surfer !
